Understanding the basics of diabetes better prepares you to support consumers who may need assistance managing their disease. In this course, you will learn basic information about diabetes and strategies to support clients in diabetes management.
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Describe what diabetes is and how it is classified
- List signs and symptoms of high blood sugar and low blood sugar
- Understand treatments for diabetes and their potential complications
- Describe best practices for supporting challenging customers in managing their diabetes
- Explain needle and syringe safety guidelines
- Recognize signs and symptoms of a diabetic coma and how you should respond to it
