Description

Trauma survivors often experience persistent distress, including anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). As a caregiver, it is crucial to understand the impact of trauma on an individual's mental and physical health and provide appropriate support. This course will give you a deeper understanding of trauma, its effects, and how to support survivors in their healing journey.
 
At the end of the course, you will be able to:
  • Develop an understanding of the term trauma​
  • Identify common symptoms of trauma​
  • Establish what trauma can look like to a caregiver​
  • Identify strategies for caring for a someone post-trauma
  • Familiarize yourself with common internal and external triggers 

 

This is course # 2010 in IHSS Career Pathways and CalGrows. It is part of the Cognitive Impairments and Behavioral Health Pathway, which is a specialized pathway. It is eligible for the Career Builder incentive from CalGrows.
