Description

It is critical that you work to ensure that you and your consumer remain safe and free from injury. In this course, you will learn how to appropriately respond to emergency situations in the home and provide basic first aid to your consumer. You will also learn about risks related to choking, and how to identify if your consumer is choking and respond appropriately.

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Identify the most common injuries in homecare
  • List ways to promote safety and handle non-medical emergencies
  • Understand how to prevent fire, burns, and scalds
  • Describe basic first aid strategies and how to apply them to a variety of injuries
  • List the signs and symptoms of choking
  • Describe how to appropriately respond if your consumer is choking
