Description
A person who uses illegal drugs or misuses legal drugs may find it difficult to stop. Also, they may not be ready to stop using, this can present a challenge when providing care. In this training, you will learn about the concept of “harm reduction” and how you can use this approach to help a person manage the risks and potential harm of continued drug use. You will come away with practical strategies for navigating the challenges of providing care to a person who may be misusing substance(s) or under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- · Recognize what harm reduction practices look like??
- · Use strategies to help minimize the risks from the individual continuing to use drugs and of harming themselves or others?
- · Provide care with compassion and avoid language that stigmatizing?
