This instructor-led course covers effective communication and collaboration strategies that can help you work more effectively with your consumer(s).
Description
This class will help you understand various strategies for effectively communicating and collaborating with your consumer. We will discuss active listening and how it can improve communication, describe how to paraphrase as a tool for active listening, and learn about the importance of asking open-ended questions.
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Explain the importance of active listening, especially as it relates to effective communication in the work environment
- Recognize that active listening takes conscious effort
- Describe what body language is and how it impacts communication
- Define paraphrasing and describe its importance and relevance to active listening
- Explain the intentions behind and benefits of paraphrasing, and practice doing it
- Explain the importance and purpose of using open-ended questions that are not "leading" or "loaded"
- Create open-ended questions to help gather and clarify information from consumers
