Description

In this simulation course, you can make decisions similar to those in real life. This scenario features three fictional characters: Lin, her mother, Mrs. Wong, who has Type 2 diabetes, and a nurse guide providing feedback on your decisions. You will specifically step into Lin's shoes and assist her mother by checking her blood glucose.

Your decisions in simulation allow you to practice responding to a character with low blood sugar, using a glucometer to measure blood glucose, and safely cleaning up afterward. Remember that this simulation is intended to be a learning experience and does not replace the training and direction of a licensed healthcare professional under California paramedical regulations. It is designed to supplement that training and improve your skills in a safe and controlled environment.

This is course #2076 in IHSS Career Pathways and CalGrows. It is in the General Health & Safety Pathway, which is a general pathway, and is eligible for the Career Builder incentive in CalGrows.

This course is self-paced and expected to take roughly half an hour to complete. If you need to pause for any reason, you can save progress and come back to resume it when ready. Courses should be completed within 30 days of starting them.
