This instructor-led course covers strategies for preventing risk in the home and administering first aid when your consumer is injured or choking.
Description
It is critical that you work to ensure that you and your consumer remain safe and free from injury. In this course, you will learn how to prevent risk, appropriately respond to emergency situations in the home and provide basic first aid to your consumer.
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Observe and document key information about safety in the home environment
- Describe steps caregivers can take to assist the consumer in making the home safer
- Observe safety hazards outside the home and describe steps caregivers can take to assist the consumer with being safe outside the home.
- Define "first aid"
- Explain what first aid procedures caregivers are allowed to do
- Describe how to know if your consumer is choking and why it occurs
