Description
In this online simulation, you will make decisions for "Paula" as she helps her mother with her inhaler. This scenario includes three fictional characters: Paula, her mother, Mrs. Zakaryan, who has cough-variant asthma, and a nurse guide providing feedback. Mrs. Zakaryan needs help due to her severe arthritis and decreased vision.
The decisions you make in this course help you review various types of inhalers, especially MDIs. You will simulate priming the MDI, using a spacer, and administering medication with an MDI. This simulation is not a substitute for training and direction from a licensed healthcare professional. Under California's paramedical regulations, it's required to receive proper instruction from a qualified medical professional. This simulation is intended to supplement that training and improve your skills in a safe and controlled environment.
This course is self-paced and expected to take roughly one hour to complete. If you need to pause for any reason, you can save progress and come back to resume it when ready. Courses should be completed within 30 days of starting them.
