This instructor-led course will introduce negative social determinants of health and provide strategies for identifying and mitigating their impact.
Description
People experience health inequities arising from many non-medical factors such as education, socioeconomic status, access to healthcare, etc. To improve health outcomes for vulnerable populations, it is important to understand the negative social determinants of health and support a consumer to mitigate them.
By the end of this course, you will be able to:

Develop an understanding of the social determinants of health

Describe how social determinants of health impact a person’s health and well-being.

Describe one way each social determinant may negatively impact a consumer and one strategy for effective mitigation as a caregiver.

Understand what to observe, record, and report related to social determinants of Health in partnership with the consumer.
