Description

Caring for someone experiencing Dementia presents unique challenges. This simulation offers insights into the lives of people with advanced dementia and experiencing symptoms related to "sundowning". You will learn about different behaviors exhibited by people experiencing sundowning. Through this simulation course, you will meet people experiencing these symptoms and be prompted to make decisions about how to provide the best care to them in different situations. By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Develop an understanding of sundowning, the time of the day when people experience it, and the behavioral changes that are brought on as a result of the condition
  • Make decisions about how to interact with and support the consumer
  • List ways of supporting and promoting consumers safety
  • Identify situations in which to seek help for the consumer
  • Describe ways in which to seek help for the consumer

This course is self-paced and expected to take roughly one hour to complete. If you need to pause for any reason, you can save progress and come back to resume it when ready. Courses should be completed within 30 days of starting them.
