This class will help you understand various types of cognitive impairments, and how they might impact a consumer's daily life. Throughout the class we will explore how cognitive diseases such as delirium, amnesiac disorders, dementia, and Alzheimer's disease are diagnosed and treated, and strategies for working with consumers who have cognitive impairments.

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Describe common cognitive diseases including delirium, amnesiac disorders, dementia, and Alzheimer's
  • Discuss strategies for supporting consumers with cognitive impairments
  • Apply newly learned strategies to real-life scenarios

 

This is course #2009 in IHSS Career Pathways. It is part of the Cognitive Impairments and Behavioral Health Pathway, which is a specialized pathway.
